"You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water." – Rabindranath Tagore.

Everyone has a delta—a unique space between where they are and they want to be.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that your current place is a negative space. You may be very content where you are but feel an urge and a drive to push the boundaries. On the other hand, you may encounter barriers, fears, or limiting beliefs that prevent you from taking the first step into the ‘murky’ waters. This short blog gives an overview of the My Delta Framework and the elements required to unlock your potential, so you have the confidence and skills to bridge your delta and go beyond.

8 Steps to Bridge Your Delta

  1. Deepen Self-Awareness: Take time to understand your values, motivations, strengths and areas for development. This whole-self knowledge will guide your journey and align you to your values when making decisions.

  2. Explore Your Current Reality: Honestly assess where you are right now. Identify what’s working, what’s not, and the barriers you face. Take a step back and really explore the truth of your place within your environment.

  3. Reimagine the Future: Visualise where you want to be. Don’t be afraid to dream big and think about the possibilities that align with your values and aspirations. What do you want your life to look and feel like?

  4. Plan: Develop a clear and actionable plan to bridge your delta- think bridge building or stepping stones, whatever works for you. Identify the obstacles you need to overcome and the skills you need to develop. Break down your larger goal into smaller, manageable steps and don't forget the importance of drawing on the support of others.

  5. Experiential Learning: Engage in hands-on experiences that will help you learn and grow. Take action and adjust as you learn more about yourself. Celebrate the wins, however small.

  6. Reflective Learning: Continuously reflect on your progress, adapt to new insights, and optimize your strategies by learning from experiences to stay aligned with your evolving goals.

  7. Success: Acknowledge how far you have come and your learning. Revisit what success means to you (in the widest sense) so you can keep to your own unique path.

  8. Go Beyond: Once you’ve bridged your initial delta, feel the success and go beyond. The ripple affect of leadership is far reaching so consider your next step and your impact on others.
